Future since 1816

Founded as Bochum’s first mining school in 1816 the Technische Hochschule Georg Agricola (THGA) stands for competences on the field of engineering for more than 200 years. Today, with future-oriented emphases like Mineral Resources Engineering and Post-mining, Material Efficiency, Product Development and Production, Smart Energy or Energy Efficiency, the THGA connects its traditional know-how with a modern focus. Companies are very interested in THGA graduates, because of their special practical and theoretical education. As a private, state-approved university of applied sciences the THGA has close relations to the industry and to international partners.

The THGA is open: International students are welcome at our campus! Currently we have students from more than 30 different countries studying at the THGA. Nevertheless everyone knows everyone at our small, familiarly university. We do not have overcrowded lecture-halls, but small learning groups. Foreign students are able to study all subjects the THGA is offering. Almost all of our subjects can be studied full-time or in part-time – by the way: without tuition fees.

Quality, frankness, flexibility, humanity and tradition – with these values the THGA Georg Agricola stands for future since 1816.
