Finding a place to stay

Like anywhere else in Germany, affordable rooms and flats are not that easy to get in Bochum either. If you want to move into your own place, start flat-hunting soon, possibly right after you have enrolled. Make sure you find information in time and act on it. You need a bit of luck and patience to find suitable and affordable accommodation.

THGA has its own students' residence right next to the campus. The rooms and apartments that students can rent are equipped with phone and internet connection, laundry rooms with washing machines, bathrooms and kitchens (either en-suite or shared). The single rooms and two-room apartments can be rented for up to 4.5 years; apartments/flats can also be shared.

Other rooms and flats are available in the students' residences offered by the AKAFö, a student support organisation; these halls of residence are located near the Ruhr University of Bochum. The underground train U35 connects both places and it takes about 10-15 minutes to get to THGA. Moreover, there are some halls of residence available from private organisations which tend to be a bit more expensive.

Shared flats and private rooms can best be chased via social media and websites:

International students will also receive support in flat-hunting from our International Office.
