The material conversion specialists

Want to know how the valuable materials in your mobile phone are recovered instead of simply being disposed of?

Are you fascinated by how your outdoor jacket becomes windproof and waterproof?

Or is sustainability important to you and you want to play an active role in environmental and climate protection, e.g. through intelligent water recycling?

Then the Bachelor's programme in Process and Environmental Engineering is the right choice for you.

Note: The programme has been further developed and is currently undergoing accreditation. The final decision of the Accreditation Council on the further developments is still pending. Changes are therefore subject to change.

We do not have a minimum grade requirement for bachelor's programmes, nor do we charge tuition fees. We only charge a semester fee, which includes the Deutschland-Ticket for public transport.

You can find all the information you need about enrolment and deadlines here.

Theory of matter transformation

The bachelor's degree programme in Process and Environmental Engineering teaches you everything you need to know about the conversion of materials. Whether it's the production of fuel, medicines or energy drinks, or the treatment of waste water – process engineering is the key to it all.

Whenever new substances need to be produced or mixtures of substances need to be separated, basic process engineering operations are used. You will learn how to break down these substances or mixtures of substances using chemical, thermal or mechanical processes and develop innovative solutions.

Environmental technology: protecting resources

Environmental technology is playing an increasingly important role. This involves, for example, protecting the air, water and soil from pollutants or recycling waste in such a way that it can be turned back into usable materials.
You will acquire practical knowledge through learning material related to the environment and recycling, as well as through direct laboratory work. Topics such as energy efficiency are also an integral part of the programme. Your studies are structured logically to ensure that they are easy to understand.

Creative and secure future planning

If you enjoy creative technical design. And are interested in scientific and technical problems and their solutions. If you are interested in scientific subjects such as chemistry, mathematics and physics, then you will love studying process and environmental engineering.

TCV-Laboratory

Here, the fundamentals and advanced aspects of thermal and chemical process engineering are taught in a lively manner. With a focus on experimental laboratory tests, modern analytics and practical training, the laboratory prepares students for careers in environmental technology, process development and research – including participation in exciting final theses and research projects.

Full-time or part-timeThe choice is yours

You can study process engineering full-time or part-time. Brand new: in the full-time programme, we guarantee you a 4-day week without compromising on the quality or scope of your studies. This means you have one fixed day for your plans, your job or your family. If you are employed or work shifts, we recommend our part-time programme.

Subjects such as business administration, sustainability in engineering and artificial intelligence prepare you ideally for the professional world. You can even write your thesis in cooperation with a company. We do not charge tuition fees. Only a semester fee is charged, which includes the Deutschland-Ticket for public transport.
