Yildiz Technical University
Yildiz Technical University, or YTU for short, is one of seven public universities in Istanbul and the third oldest university in Turkey, with a history dating back to 1911. With over 30,000 students, it is considered one of the best universities in the country. Since 2014, THGA has been cooperating with YTU and thus promotes student mobility for study purposes within the framework of the Erasmus+ and HAW.International programmes. YTU offers courses in both English and Turkish.
Exchange students at YTU benefit from an active Erasmus+ Student Network (ESN), which not only offers the opportunity to make new contacts from day one, but also organises many exciting activities.

Exciting city with lots of charm
Maik Leipersberger spent his semester abroad from 19 September 2021 to 31 January 2022 at Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul. The student, who is pursuing a master's degree in ‘Geoengineering and Post-Mining,’ was in Turkey as part of the Erasmus+ funding programme.
Maik's conclusion: “I can highly recommend Istanbul and YTU to anyone. The city was very exciting and beautiful. University life was great thanks to the numerous cafeterias on campus and various parks. Even after four months, you never get bored in this city.”
