TH Georg Agricola University

The TH Georg Agricola University (THGA) stands for tremendous practice-oriented engineering education. Founded as Bochum’s first mining school in 1816, more than 200 years of tradition pay into its unique features. Today, with a future-oriented emphasis on mineral resources engineering and post-mining, materials science, mechanical engineering and process engineering, information technology or smart energy, the THGA connects its traditional knowledge with a modern focus. Companies are very interested in THGA graduates because of their special practical and theoretical education. As a private, state-accredited university of applied sciences, the university has close relations to the industry and to international partners.

The THGA is open for young people impartially from their origin: Currently we have students from all over the world studying at THGA. Nevertheless, everyone knows everyone at our small, familiarly university. We do not have overcrowded lecture-halls, but small learning groups.

Study Program

The variety of study courses is flexible which helps students to organize their studies individually. Almost all of our subjects can be studied full-time or in part-time – by the way: without tuition fees.

Beside theoretical basics, practical applications are elementary for the teaching. Modern forms of E-Learning complete the study at the THGA.

THGA is split into three faculties:

1. Geo-Resource and Process Engineering
2. Mechanical Engineering and Material Sciences
3. Electrical/Information Technology and Business Engineering

They currently offer nine bachelor's and six master's degree courses in total. Here you will find an overview.

International Students

Foreign students are able to study all subjects offered. Most of our study programs require German language knowledge except our Master Mineral Resource and Process Engineering. For more information, please contact our International Office.
